Investor Outreach Privacy Notice
This notice explains how we use professional contact information to identify and engage with potential investors on behalf of government bodies and international organisations, arrange introductions and support investment discussions. You can object to investor outreach at any time, free of charge, by replying to our message or contacting info@lioneconomics.com. We will stop using your personal data for that outreach.
A Who we are and how to contact us
-
Lion Economics is the trading name of Wavteq FZCO, established in UAE, with its registered address at Unit 2E M091, Building 2E, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, P.O. Box 371037, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Wavteq FZCO is a fully owned subsidiary of UK-registered Wavteq Group Limited.
-
For privacy questions or requests, contact Tapan.Sahni@lioneconomics.com or info@lioneconomics.com or write to our registered address, marked for the attention of Tapan Sahni.
-
For the research and outreach described here, we act as a controller where we determine why and how your personal data is used. Where we process data solely on a client’s instructions, that client is the controller and its privacy notice also applies. We identify the relevant client in our communications and can explain the responsibilities for your project on request.
B Why we contact you
-
We are engaged and paid by investment promotion agencies, economic development organisations, zones and other government bodies or international organisations to introduce investment opportunities in their host locations.
-
Our purpose is to explore whether those opportunities fit your company’s business activities and international expansion plans and, where relevant, arrange a discussion with our client. The investment facilitation support described in our outreach is offered to your company without charge.
-
For each assignment, we agree specific investment opportunities with our client and build a tailored list of companies based on their business activities, investment track record and/or publicly reported expansion plans. Our client approves the target companies before outreach. We then identify executives whose professional responsibilities are relevant to the opportunity and location. We may contact you by business email, telephone or LinkedIn.
C What personal data we use
-
We use names, job titles, employer details, and business contact details. We also keep correspondence, meeting arrangements, relevant discussion notes, investment interests shared in a professional capacity, the source of contact information and records of contact preferences or objections. Company information is personal data only where it relates to an identifiable individual.
-
Our investor outreach does not require sensitive personal information, such as health information, political opinions or religious beliefs. Please avoid including such information in routine correspondence.
D Where contact information comes from
-
We obtain information directly from you or colleagues who refer us to you, from our clients, and from publicly available business sources such as company websites, announcements, professional profiles, industry publications and business events. We may identify relevant contacts using our internal company and contact database and third-party business information services. You may ask us where we obtained your information.
E Purposes and lawful bases
-
We rely on legitimate interests to research suitable business contacts, introduce relevant investment opportunities, arrange meetings, manage follow-up and report progress to the commissioning client. These interests are our interest in delivering targeted investment promotion assignments and our clients’ interest in attracting and facilitating investment. We assess the necessity of using professional contact information and balance these interests against your rights and reasonable expectations.
-
We limit outreach to relevant professional roles and provide a simple way to object. Where applicable communication rules require prior consent, we obtain it before contacting you through the relevant channel. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
-
We also use necessary records to comply with legal obligations, including applicable data protection duties, and rely on legitimate interests where appropriate to protect our systems and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
F Who receives your information
-
Relevant members of our delivery team and authorised contractors may access information needed for their work. We share relevant professional contact details, outreach status, correspondence summaries and meeting or investment discussion information with the government or international organisation commissioning the assignment and relevant delivery partners identified for that project. This may occur during project reporting before a meeting is agreed, as well as when arranging introductions and follow-up.
-
Our client is identified in our outreach. It may use information as a separate controller under its own privacy notice. We can provide its privacy contact or notice on request.
-
Our service providers process information to deliver cloud productivity, storage, backup, communication and IT support services. These include Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Afi where used for the relevant records. We may also disclose information to professional advisers or competent authorities where necessary for legal obligations or claims.
G International processing and sharing
-
Our work involves clients and delivery teams in different countries. Information may therefore be accessed or processed outside your country, including through cloud providers and by our client.
-
We use Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Afi under the standard terms applicable to our subscriptions. These services may process personal data internationally. Their applicable data-processing terms describe their commitments concerning data protection, security and international transfers.
-
You may request information about the safeguards and how to obtain a copy using the contact details above.
H How we protect your information
-
We apply technical and organisational measures designed to restrict access to authorised people and protect information against unauthorised use, loss or disclosure.
-
Our “Single Window” client delivery platform is cloud based only and uses Google Sheets within Google Workspace, with a separate version for each client or project. Directors grant access to the relevant client and delivery team members.
-
Our controls include multifactor authentication across Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, restricted administrative access, device security and updates, monitoring, and incident-management and access-termination procedures. Google Workspace information is backed up through Afi, with Afi access restricted to our CEO.
-
Cloud-provider certifications relate to the Google and Afi’s assessed services; our platform is not separately certified.
I How long we keep information
-
When a contract is completed, all client and other Users of the Single Window are removed and only Lion Economics’ Directors can access the Single Window.
-
We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes explained here. In deciding how long to retain a record, we consider whether your role remains relevant, whether an assignment or investment discussion is active, the date and substance of our last contact, client reporting requirements, and applicable legal obligations or claims. We review records and delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed.
-
If you object, we retain only the information needed to record and honour your preference, together with any separate records we must retain for legal or accountability purposes. A minimal suppression record helps prevent your details being reintroduced into future outreach. Backup copies remain protected and are removed through the applicable backup retention cycle rather than necessarily being erased immediately. Only the CEO of Lion Economics can access the backup copies on Afi cloud backup.
J Your choices and rights
-
You have the right to object at any time to use of your personal data for direct marketing, including related profiling. Reply to our message or contact Tapan.Sahni@lioneconomics.com or info@lioneconomics.com. We will stop that processing. You do not need to give a reason.
-
Depending on the applicable law and processing basis, you may also request access, correction, erasure or restriction, and object to other legitimate-interests processing. Portability applies in certain circumstances to automated processing based on consent or a contract. You may withdraw consent where relied upon.
-
We respond within the applicable legal deadline, normally one month for EU GDPR requests, subject to permitted extensions or other lawful adjustments. We may request proportionate information to verify identity. Providing additional information or participating in investment discussions is voluntary; declining does not create any obligation to us.
-
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Our targeting concerns professional relevance and company investment fit.
K Complaints and updates
-
Please contact us if you have concerns. You may also complain directly to the relevant data protection authority. We may update this notice as our activities or legal requirements change. Last updated: 27 October 2026.
